Fascia (facia)
The horizontal boards that face the outer ends of the roof rafters.
Flashing
Waterproof materials, usually sheet metal, used to prevent water from entering the joints of a building.

An area designated by governing agencies to be flood prone.

A vertical pipe that carries smoke or gases to the outside.
Footing
Usually of concrete, footings spread the weight of the structure to solid bearing soil below.

The depth of the soil at which subsurface water may freeze. This depth varies from region to region and is determined by local building codes. Footings should be constructed below the frost line.
